The 1st Asian Junior Championship saw Jason Chong in action again representing the country in the welter weight category (54 - 63 kb). This championship was held from the 8th to 11th of August 2001 in Chang Hua, Taiwan. Over 200 of the best junior players from 16 Asian countries took part. Jason Chong won over a player from Kuwait in the 1st round but lost to an iranian in the quarter finals.
