Established in 1989 - Kuala Lumpur, BTFC
Taekwondo Club has come a
long way. It was first initiated by Master
Kevin Woon and associates. Situated along
the busy road Jalan Bangsar, BTFC then was
still growing from its roots. Initially
affiliated to United Wilayah Persekutuan
Taekwondo Association (UWPTA), it has since
continued with success and growing
throughout the years and have made a step
forward when it was granted a direct
affiliation to Malaysian Taekwondo
Association (MTA / WTF) on 4th December
1993.
Under the MTA's banner,
members of BTFC enjoyed the benefits and
more importantly, they actively participated
in various championship at national and
international levels. This was a turning
point in the history of BTFC bringing to a
major change of events, and together with a
few other local clubs, they formed the
pioneer group of MTA Associate Members.
BTFC is proud of its
numerous achievements throughout these
years. However, such achievements would not
be possible without the hard work of its
mastermind Master Woon, with the cooperation
and continous support from the schools,
parents, members and friends.
Today, BTFC stands tall as
one of the best Taekwondo clubs in Malaysia
with world - reknown recognition. At
present, being one of the most active
Taekwondo clubs in Malaysia, BTFC boasts a
very strong membership. BTFC's achievements
are not only limited to participation in
championships alone and it has revealed its
caliber, when it hosted the 1st & 2nd
International Clubs Open Taekwondo
Championships both held in 1995 and 1997
respectively in Kuala Lumpur. It has since
organized many other championships such as
the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Seaport Invitational
Taekwondo Championships and the 1st, 2nd and
3rd BTFC closed Taekwondo Championships,
which was participated by all schools and
clubs under its wings.
Throughout its journey,
BTFC has displayed the tenets of Taekwondo
well and has been recognized not only for
its achievements but also the courtesy and
well being of its members in promoting the
art of Taekwondo. Championships from most
areas of the world will ineveitably include
BTFC in their invitations. This not only
indicates the worthiness of BTFC's efforts
but also a great achievement for Malaysia,
particularly the Malaysia Taekwondo
Association (MTA).
You can be certain that
BTFC will not rest with its past
achievements but continously promote
Taekwondo in line with the government's
Rakan Muda programme to unearth potentials
and promote healthier generations of the
future.
