8th & 9th July 2000 marked the first championship organized by Bangsar Taekwondo & Fitness Centre in the new millennium. The event was held at the multi-purpose hall of Kelana Jaya 1 & 2 Primary School in SS5/2, Petaling Jaya. The purpose of this championship was to provide a competitive atmosphere as an avenue to expose and uncover new talents from our Taekwondo members, apart from tightening the relationships among them.

The opening ceremony kick started with a speech by the Deputy President of BTFC, Mr. Tan Kok Aun and was declared open by the headmaster of Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Kelana Jaya 1, Tuan Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Daud In the spirit of sportsmanship, all participants stood for an oath-
taking; led by the previous year's Best Players, En. Raffique Hashimi and Ms. Cheryl Yeoh. The members of the BTFC team who successfully achieved first runner-up in the recent 20th National Remaja MTA-Magnum-Milo Taekwondo Championship 2000 were then invited to receive their medals and certificates. This was followedby a brief demonstration by four of our BTFC exponents.

An overwhelming number of 14 schools and Taekwondo clubs participated in this prestigious biennial event of BTFC, namely 1) *SMK Seaport, 2) SMK St. Mary, 3) SMK Sri Hartamas, 4) *SK Kelana Jaya 1, 5) SK Kelana Jaya 2,6) SK St. Mary, 7) *SJK (C) Yuk Chai , 8) SK Tmm Tm Dr. Ismail 2 , 9 ) SJK (C) Kuen Cheng 1, 10) SK (P) Jalan Batu 1, 11) SK (P) Jalan Batu 2, 12) SK Jalan Bellamy, 13) SK Sri Hartamas, 14) Jasmine Tower TKD Club, 15) Kelab Taekwondo Taman Tasik Titiwangsa and 16) BTFC itself. The competition yielded over 220 participants in the sparring and
poomsae events. Throughout the championship, remarkable sparring skills were displayed as they kicked and punched their best. The atmosphere was filled with loud cheers and excitement as the participants battle it out especially during the sparring events.

A total of, 190 medals were allocated with 44 gold, 44 silver and 102 bronze.

Once again, BTFC defended the overall champion title as they stole the event with a total haul of 10 gold, 8 silver and 20 bronze medals.

The ceremony drew to a close as the headmaster of SRK Kelana Jaya 2 0 En. Sukran bin Husin gave the closing speech witnessed by President of BTFC - Dato Hashim Yusoff. Nevertheless, the championship ended with 3 unanimous cheers of "Hip! Hip! Hooray!" marking the successful end of the 3rd Bangsar Taekwondo & Fitness Centre Closed Championship 2000.
