Sahril
b. Ismail, the Star of BTFC 2002, began
learning Taekwondo when he was 7 years old.
To Sahril, Taekwondo is not just an art
of self-defense, Taekwondo is a martial
art which instills admirable moral values.
At the tender age of 9, he began competing
in local tournaments, attaining his first
Bronze Medal at the U.M. Championship. This
first achievement flamed his interest in
competitive Taekwondo. He then moved on
to become the undisputed National Junior
Champion for 5 consecutive years, 1998 through
2002. With unwavering determination and
the dedicated guidance of Master Wong Ching
Beng, Sahril futher proved himself by becoming
the 1st Malaysian to win a medal in the
World Junior Taekwondo Championship. He
was awarded a Silver medal at the recently
concluded 4th World Junior Taekwondo Championship
which was held from the 1st - 6th of October,
2002 at Heraklion Crete, GREECE.
Sahril
has put Malaysia among the elite in the
international scene of Taekwondo. He was
accompanied by teammates Ryan & Jason
Chong, fellow BTFC members who also represented
Malaysia in the Fin and Welterweight categories
respectively. His success is made possible
with the love and support of his family,
especially his father En. Ismail Kasim,
who is also a Blackbelt Taekwondo exponent.
He dedicates his achievements thus far to
the commitment and outstanding leadership
of BTFC, headed by its President Dato' Hashim
Yusoff, Technical Director Master Kevin
