A Chat with... Veres Zoltan

Veres Zoltan left for Korea on the 21st June 2000 after being in Malaysia for six years and I had an opportunity to chat with him. This 32 year old Hungarian, (affectionately known as Zoli) chose Taekwondo from the numerous arts of self-defense simply because he like Taekwondo. Asked why he chose BTFC, her replied that BTFC was well known and a friend had introduced him to Master Woon six years ago.

He claimed that Taekwondo training made him physically and mentally strong, sustaining injuries is an inevitable part of Taekwondo, therefore, he took up "Shiatsu" a Japanese therapy for treating injusries and "Reiki" specializing in the art of treating injuries with "chi" (both of which he acquired in Malaysia). Zoli also plans to pass on his shiatsu and reiki knowledge while in Korea.

Learning languages is also one of his interests, as he travels, he makes it a point to learn the native tongue of the country he is in, where he can understand better how different people with different culture experess themselves.

He is the second Hungarian in the world to be qualified in Bahasa Melayu, and is currently learning Korean Language to prepare himself for his trip to korea. he intends to write a book on Taekwondo in near future and what better way to do it by visiting the country of its origin.

Staying in Malaysia has been the turning point in his life in many ways. Thoughout the 6 years of hard training under the guidance of Master Woon, he has attained his 2nd Dan Black Belt. Before he came to Malaysia, he had thought that Asians were unfriendly but it proved otherwise. He feels that Malaysia is a very comfortable and peaceful country to live in compared to the countries he had visited.

Zoltan's parting message is "to go for things that makes you happy. never settle for what you do not like, as only happiness will make your life worth living."

He wish to take this opportunity to thank Master Woon for his patience and guidance, throughout the 6 years in Malaysia.

He will be in Korea at Shin Shung College under professor Han Kwon Sang (a close friends of Master Woon) for intensive Taekwondo training.

We from BTFC wish him all the best and good luck!!
